An appeal to fund a special sensory ball pool has been given a £1,000 donation from leading housebuilder Persimmon Homes South East.
The donation has been made to Martha Trust based in Deal and will go towards the purchase of a sensory ball pool.
Barry O’Sullivan, who made the successful bid on behalf of the trust, said: “Martha Trust provides life-time residential, respite and day care for adults with profound disabilities.
“Each person has a programme of therapies and activities aimed at developing their actual and latent skills and abilities”.
“The ball pool has LED colour strips to create a calm, colourful sensory experience, a remote wand to enable the user to change the colours, and hundreds of coloured and transparent balls. ‘Swimming’ in the ball pool is therapeutic and stimulates the user’s tactile and visual senses – and of course it’s fun”.
“The £1,000 donation will be a big boost and we are delighted that Persimmon Homes South East has supported us so generously.”
Martin Crick, head of sales and marketing for Persimmon Homes South East, based in Maidstone, said the Community Champions scheme was a way of supporting people across every city, town and village where the company works.
He said: “We are delighted to support the trust with this donation and we hope that the clients enjoy their experience in the pool.”
Persimmon Homes South East Community Champions fund has £2,000 each month to share between two worthy causes to match their fundraising activities.
Martin added: “We are committed to helping good causes in the towns and cities in which we are building. We are enjoying great success in Deal at our Timperley Place development where we have a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes available, with prices starting from £231,950.
“We have had a fantastic response to the Community Champions scheme. If people have previously been unsuccessful, we urge them to apply again and potentially become our next Community Champion.”
